05/03/2010 Are you sitting comfortably
What you're looking at here is a seat inspired by a machine - the F1 car - that's designed over many years to go as fast as humanly possible. And yet, by it's very nature, the seat is a creation built for inert slobs that don't move a single inch.
Irony aside though, we're sure you'll agree that it's quite a sight - and quite a seat.
Moulded in fibreglass, with chrome legs and an adjustable headrest, it's creator, Bulgarian designer Alexander Christoff, is very proud. "The armrests are inspired by the car's mirrors, the headrest by the top element over the spoiler and the footrest but the front wing." "And, of course, it's ergonomically shaped to cradle the countours of the human body."
The only downside we can see is that it's not yet in production. Christoff is currently in discussions with a number of manufaturers who can bring his vision to life and hopes to roll it out by mid June, priced in the region of £1,700 and available in a number of colours that reflect your particular F1 allegiance.

30/07/2009 Ferrari 458 Italia - Replacement 430
Ferrari's all new F430-replacing V8 supercar - the stunning 458 Italia
This is the all-new Ferrari. It's the new mid-engined V8 Prancing Horse, and will replace the F430 and Scuderia early in 2010.
And the 458 Italia is a completely new car in all respects - the design is a big departure from its predecessors while there's a brand spanking new 4499cc eight-cylinder engine, with a flat-plane crank and direct injection. It delivers 562bhp at an utterly mad 9000rpm, while torque is 398lb ft at 6000rpm.
That’s compared to the F430’s 483bhp and 343lb ft and the Scuderia’s 503bhp and 347lb ft, making this a much sharper weapon in the war against the Lamborghini LP560-4. It weighs about the same as the Scud (30 kilos more, but this isn’t the stripped out version, remember), meaning there’s a much wilder 414bhp/ton power to weight ratio.
It comes equipped with Ferrari’s seven-speed dual clutch transmission that’s won plaudits in the new Ferrari California. As well as quickening things up somewhat (202mph+ top speed, 3.4sec 0-62mph time) it aids the sensible figures, too (21mpg and 320g/km of CO2).
It’s going to be a technology fest, too, with E-Diff, F1-Trac and updated ABS fitted alongside a host of other tech that Ferrari will give more details of at the car’s big Frankfurt motor show reveal in September.
Aerodynamics will feature highly, though, something that can be seen by the various swoops, slats and openings in the styling. It certainly looks different to the F430, with Enzo inspired lines and some really dramatic detailing (note the smart front lights, triple exhausts and intricate rear diffuser) marking this out as one of the best looking modern Ferraris.
Interior-wise, things are equally as dramatic. Our first shot from inside the 458 exposes an all new dashboard design for Ferrari as well as a trick TFT display alongside the dials that shows how the different elements of the car are doing and letting you know if the tyres are up to temperature or not. Could be handy, that. Indicator and wiper stalks are absent, too, the functions moved to neat little buttons on the steering wheel.
The 458 Italia sees a return to Ferrari's traditional naming cullture - the 45 coming from the engine's 4.5-litre displacement, the 8 signifying the cylinder count. Keep your eyes on evo.co.uk for more updates on the all-new Ferrari V8 supercar
29/07/2009 Tag Heuer - Grand Carrera 36 RS Caliper and Meridiist Phone Bundle
Non Americans definitely have all the fun! When was the last time you saw a special edition USA anything? Richard Mille LE maybe? USA Edition Vacheron Constantin? From Europe to Asia, Non-US horologists seem to garner all the attention. It seems that every other day, a Non-US country-specific watch is unveilved by one of the leading production houses. Case in point:
It was year 1985 when Heuer-Leonidas SA joined Techniques d'Avant-Garde (TAG), a company with direct links to Formula 1, and particularly to McLaren. This amalgamation brought the world TAG Heuer, a brand that is today a major force in sports watches.
As part of the celebration of 25 years of the TAG/Heuer alliance, comes a new limited edition. A carry case imbuing futuristic lines and electrical circuits inspired by computers, which brings together two exponents of the union between technology: innovation and tradition; the chronograph Grand Carrera 36 RS Caliper and MERIDIIST, a phone designed by TAG Heuer.
The pair of instruments are presented in a limited edition of 25 cases only available in Portugal and on sale as of July 2009.

19/07/2009 Bugatti Veyron driver issued with 210MPH speeding ticket
A Bugatti Veyron owner in California was issued with a speeding ticket when travelling at over 210MPH in a 65MPH zone.
Not sure how the police were able to keep up at that speed, but I wouldn't mind being in it.

17/07/2009 Ferrari's F430 supercar replacement, the F450 coupe
This is the all-new Ferrari F450. It replaces the fantastic F430 supercar next year, and clearly has quite a hard act to follow.
Ferrari rarely puts a foot wrong, though, and evidence suggests its new mid-engined eight-cylinder car will be another leap forward for the Prancing Horse. It gets more power and a larger engine, for starters. The clue’s in the name – displacement is up from 4.3 to 4.5 litres, with the new V8’s power expected to be north of 500bhp.
That’s not to say the Italian brand is chasing high power outputs, though. The F450 is set to be a bit of a tech fest, with a lightweight aluminium structure on the cards as well as some complex aerodynamics to cut drag and maintain downforce. There could even be a hybrid version, in concept form at least, as Ferrari chases technology to ensure its supercars have a future.
The F450 will acquire a slightly tweaked version of the California’s rather brilliant seven-speed double-clutch transmission, too, and there’s the possibility of a roadgoing version of KERS (Kinetic Energy Recovery System) to give a welcome boost to the car’s efficiency and emissions.
The new Ferrari F450 is expected to make its first public appearance at the Frankfurt motor show this September, with sales beginning next year. The Spider version is a bit of a way off though – expect that around 18 months after the coupe, in order to give the freshly launched California a bit of breathing space in the Ferrari open-top range.
10/07/2009 Richard Mille - Felipe Massa
Richard Mille and Felipe Massa continue their close collaboration with the introduction of two new limited edition models, the Felipe Massa RM 004-V2 (limited to 40 pieces) and the Felipe Massa RM 008-V2 (limited to 10 pieces). Both watches feature the colors of the Brazilian flag on the flange and the crown features a red collar.
In 2004, Felipe Massa took the challenge of driving a Grand Prix race with a Richard Mille tourbillon on his wrist, the RM 006 FM. This watch represented a radical innovation, the first to use a plate made of carbon nanofibers in a highly stable isotropic composite material.
The RM 006 was designed to withstand the violent accelerations and vibrations experienced during a Formula 1 race, and its success marked the beginning of a series of watches dedicated to the highly technological world of Formula 1. After the RM 006, RM 009 (29 grams without bracelet) and RM 011 LMC, limited editions of the RM 004-V2 and the RM 008-V2 took over expressing the commitment of Richard Mille in the world motor sport.
Limited Edition of 40 pieces, 25 in red gold, 10 in white gold and 5 in Titanium

03/07/2009 Jay Kay’s new Ferrari Scuderia 16M Spider
Ferrari-loving musician Jay Kay has been snapped with his latest supercar – a Scuderia Spider 16M.
The multi-million selling artist was photographed in Notting Hill, London with the awesome white supercar parked outside a café in the suave part of town.
Jay Kay is one of lucky few to get his hands on the fastest ever Ferrari convertible. The first deliveries were taken late last month and just 499 will ever be built.
Ferrari built the Scuderia 16M to celebrate the Italian car maker’s 16th F1 Constructors’ World Championship.
The 16M is a hardcore version of the Ferrari F430 Spider.
Ferrari has slashed weight by 80kg and fitted a roll-bar with a carbon fibre outer shell.
Power comes from a 4.3-litre V8 engine which develops 510bhp and 346lb/ft of pulling power and enables a 0-62mph time of 3.7 seconds and a top speed of 195.3mph.
On Ferrari’s Fiorano race track, the 16M lapped the track in 1 minute 26.5 seconds – faster than the legendary F40 and F50.
In the original press release for the car, Ferrari described the 16M as a model targeted towards ‘the most passionate clients; drivers who demand both exclusivity and superb driving pleasure’.
And you don’t get much more passionate than Jay Kay.
The Jamiroquai frontman is a renowned petrolhead and Ferrari aficionado having owned the following Prancing Horses:
1. Ferrari 360
2. Ferrari 550 Maranello
3. Ferrari F40
4. Ferrari F50
He also owns the ultimate Ferrari, an Enzo. Earlier this year 21-year-old chef Aaron Billington was sentenced to 20 weeks of porridge after causing nearly £10,000 damage to the Enzo.

03/07/2009 Michael Owen's old Ferrari 599 GTB for sale
The former Liverpool hitman is one of England’s greatest strikers and he famously bagged a triple against Germany in 2001.
Now Auto Trader has scored a unique hat-trick after a third car previously owned by Owen has come up for sale on Auto Trader.
They’ve had his old Range Rover and Jaguar XKR on the market but this is something all the more special – a Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano F1 which has been fitted with practically every optional extra.
In standard guise the Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano F1 costs £198,000 but Owen went box-ticking mad in the showroom and added:
• Sat-nav - £1,350
• Rear parking sensors - £790
• CD autochanger - £750
• Scuderia Ferrari shields - £1,050
• Daytona style seats - £1,885
• Leather parcel shelf - £1,325
• Carbon ceramic brakes - £11,495
• Yellow brake callipers - £585
• 20-inch monolithic alloy wheels - £2,505
As a result his old Ferrari 599 cost more than £222,000 – and now the 2007 ‘56’ plate model can be yours for just £149,950, a saving of £72,000.
Under the bonnet lies a 6-litre V12 engine which develops 612bhp and 448lb/ft of pulling power. Channelled to the rear wheels, the Fezza will rocket from 0-62mph in 3.7 seconds before hitting a top speed of 205mph.
The model has just 9,900 miles on the clock and is under warranty until 2011.
It’s one of the greatest grand tourers ever built and Cristiano Ronaldo owned one which he famously wrote off in a Manchester tunnel earlier this year. So what did he do? He bought another one a couple of weeks ago.
Michael Owen is one of England’s best ever strikers having bagged 40 goals in 89 game for the Three Lions. But the 29 year old’s career has been hampered by injury and he has just left relegated Newcastle United and is on the lookout for a new contract.
He scored 158 goals for Liverpool in 297 games with many fans wanting the Chester-born striker to return to the club as support for the prolific Fernando Torres.
His old Ferrari 599 is on the market with Harrogate dealer Lawton Brook for £149,950 – a great price for a great car previously owned by a great footballer.

03/07/2009 McLaren to build hybrid supercar
The hotly-anticipated new McLaren supercar could have a hybrid option – according to its job website.
McLaren Automotive's careers website is looking for a Senior Engineer – Powertrain Hybrid Technology to "Lead the technical assessment, integration and application of appropriate hybrid powertrain technology".
The job ad also says bosses will prefer experience in "Low volume (production), less than 5000 unit per annum" – and that would suit the aspirations of the forthcoming McLaren P11 which is pitched as a rival to the Ferrari F430 replacement, the F50 and Lamborghini Gallardo.
The P11 will be the first road car the Woking-based manufacturer has built since the F1, which broke the record for the world's fastest production car reaching more than 240mph.
02/07/2009 Nissan GT-R Sets Guinness Book Record as Fastest Production Four-Seater
Nissan’s GT-R has made its way into the Italian edition of the “Guinness Book of World Records.” The Japanese supercar set a world record for the fastest 0-62 mph acceleration by a four-seater series production car with a sprint time of 3.5 seconds. We remind you that in April, Nissan revealed the GT-R established a new lap time at the Nordschleife circuit in Germany with 7 minutes and 26.7 seconds.
30/06/2009 Emil Baddal Lamborghini Concept
With the LP670-4 SV there’s an end to the beautiful Lamborghini Murciélago story. A new Lamborghini flagship can be expected within the upcoming four years and designers like Emil Baddal are helping the Sant’Agata Bolognese engineers with ideas for a new look of the next gen Lamborghini
30/06/2009 Green light for new Lamborghini Gallardo
Details of a new rear-wheel drive Lamborghini Gallardo have been leaked online.
It’s been rumoured the Gallardo LP550-2 will get a detuned version of the standard car’s 5.2-litre V10 engine which will develop 550bhp.
While less powerful, the removal of four-wheel drive will reduce weight and enable a 0-62mph time of 3.9 seconds – the same as the LP560-4.
It’s expected to be cheaper than the £136,000 LP560-4 with production limited to around 250.
30/06/2009 Is this the world’s youngest Enzo owner?
Heard of Cody Leibel? Didn’t think so, but this 23-year-old is possibly the world’s youngest Ferrari Enzo owner.
Because if he’s not the world’s youngest Ferrari Enzo owner then he’s surely the youngest person to own TWO of the 217mph supercars.
Now what the hell is going on? He also owns a Ferrari 550 Barchetta and, according to reports, has a Maserati MC12 on order.
This is a total of more than £2.1 million.
The owner of American record company C-Note was recently featured in a US magazine feature and we’re absolutely dumfounded.
It’s also been reported by super-posh website Luxist that Leibel’s swish Beverly Hills pad is on the market for a cool $16.5 million (£10 million). The five bedroom house is in grounds of five acres and has an Infinity pool and room for 20 cars.
Now we can’t help feeling jealous of Cody who has the cars, the house and probably a watch with a face the size of a birthday cake, but is he really happy? We suspect so.
Let’s just hope he treats his Enzos carefully.
Just 399 of the Italian hypercars have ever been built and a number of them have come to an unhappy end with one spontaneously combusting a couple of weeks ago and another crashing at the recent Rally de Paris at Magny Cours.
Cody Leibel’s Ferrari collection follows news of pop star Chris Brown, 20, being snapped with a Bugatti Veyron.
With the likes of Rooney and Ronaldo – aged 23 and 24 respectively – having owned more flash cars than you can shake a stick we’ve got a lesson for you: try harder in PE and Music lessons.
30/06/2009 Novitec Rosso Ferrari F430 Scuderia
As if owning one of only 499 F430 Scuderia Spider’s wasn’t enough Novitec Rosso can take the standard 4.3-litre V8 engine and supercharge it by adding two cogged-belt-driven compressors.
The tuned, supercharged engine will put out 696bhp at 8,400rpm and peak torque is 682Nm at 6,300rpm. Novitec claims that its tuned Scuderia will finish the 0-62mph dash in a little over 3.5 seconds and it’ll keep going all the way to 205mph.
Sport springs, hydraulic lift suspension and a wider track in the back tyres all add to the performance.
Exterior additions to the factory standard Scuderia include new three-piece 20-inch wheels and optional black tail-lights, side markers and reflectors.

28/06/2009 Blancpain kicks up a storm on the Super Trofeo Circuits
Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo Norisring (DE), June 26 - 28 2009
The second leg in the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo competition has just ended on the Norisring circuit in Germany. Throughout the weekend, the Gallardo LP560-4 decked out in the livery of the Manufacture Blancpain vied with each other in the DTM (Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters) championship.
As title sponsor, Blancpain once again salutes the remarkable participation of its President and CEO Marc A. Hayek, competing alongside famous driver Peter Kox from The Netherlands. This second leg sets the seal on the high-powered union of two world-famous manufacturers: Blancpain, the world’s oldest watch brand, and Lamborghini, one of the most iconic car manufacturers of our era. Comprising six events in the 2009 racing calendar, the Super Trofeo features a line-up of the brand-new Lamborghini Gallardo cars in a four-wheel drive racing version delivering 570 horsepower and 540 N/m (398 lb/ft) torque enabling them to reach top speeds of over 300 km/h. In honour of this unique championship, Blancpain has created an exceptional watch: the Super Trofeo Chronograph*, a limited series of 300. Its specs include a black brushed steel case fitted with an alcantara strap, a blackened movement powering a flyback function, and a black dial distinguished by 9 and 12 o’clock numerals evoking those appearing on the Lamborghini racing cars. The result is an eminently sophisticated, resolutely sporty timepiece.
26/06/2009 Baby Range Rover Given ‘Green’ Light
The green oval has already taken steps to reduce its cars’ CO2 output and consumption with the stop-start Freelander. But it’s set to take an even bigger leap – by introducing a hybrid LRX.
Land Rover will adapt the big cat’s hybrid system for use in the eagerly anticipated compact Range Rover. And, as in the Land-e concept displayed at 2006’s Geneva Motor Show, the LRX is also expected to feature a drive system that can run on electric only, petrol only or a combination of the two.
In addition, it’s likely to get a development of the Land-e’s clever electric drive rear axle, which can send electric power to the front axle, alter inner and outer wheel torque and even disconnect itself from the central driveshaft, all in the search for traction. Working in tandem with the manufacturer’s Terrain Response system, it could even offer a super-efficient on-road electric mode.
While a hybrid LRX is still at least two years away, stop-start and brake energy regeneration are set to be applied to all Land Rover models in the near future.
25/06/2009 TAG HEUER - MONACO LS Chronograph Calibre 12
40 years later... TAG Heuer is launching the MONACO LS Chronograph Calibre 12 so that the legendary collection can have a fresh opportunity to reveal its DNA.
Tag Heuer MONACO LS Chronograph Calibre 12
Once upon a time on the Le Mans circuit, Steve McQueen was at the wheel of his Porsche 917. On his wrist the MONACO - an automatic, square, blue chronograph that suddenly caused mayhem in the orderly world of the small, round, white timepiece… A stone had been thrown into the watchmaking pond that is still making waves 40 years later. That beautiful stranger, which met with such enormous and lasting success and became an icon, deserved an offspring worthy of the same degree of popularity. Now TAG Heuer is launching the MONACO LS Chronograph Calibre 12 so that the legendary collection can have a fresh opportunity to reveal its DNA.
One word that springs to mind when thinking of the MONACO is Audacity: the audacity of the first square automatic chronograph on the market; the audacity of a design that mocked the established rules; the audacity of associating it with a rebel actor at a time when the Ambassador concept did not exist. The MONACO LS Chronograph Calibre 12 does justice to its sire : the movement, the look and design detail all turn received ideas upside down and flout convention : this timepiece is other-worldly.
The movement is a TAG Heuer Dubois Depraz calibre so that the seconds, shown in a linear date opening, can be read linearly from the tip of a double red rhodium hand. The dial, inspired by the MONACO 360 Concept Chronograph, the polished bridges, the translucent embossed numerals, the chronograph dials and the angled date opening are voice and counter-voice in a black, deliberately hi-tech song sheet. The 40.5 mm case, waterproof down to 100 m, simply had to be made of polished or brushed stainless steel, and its ergonomic shape is achieved thanks to the generously curved and bevelled sapphire glass. The spirit of the MONACO V4 is palpable … The bracelet in black alligator with a folding clasp adds a classically elegant gloss to the avant-garde look whilst the stainless steel strap, with its unique micro-adjustment device, underlines the definitely futuristic bent of this Ode to Otherness.
TAG Heuer certainly knows how to give a new lease of life to a watchmaking legend. Resuscitating Steve McQueen is more complicated. An actor, but more than anything a racing driver, he used to say : « Racing is life...... everything before or after is just waiting ». A phrase that Lewis Hamilton, the 2008 Formula 1 World Champion, could have made his own since, aged just 10, he used to pull Ron Dennis’s sleeve saying « One day I shall drive a McLaren ». Thanks to the magic of film, TAG Heuer made the impossible encounter of the Hollywood idol and the virtuoso of the racing circuit possible. For the length of a film, they bandied words, challenged each other and crossed swords. On the actor’s wrist the original MONACO, on the champion's the MONACO LS. A modern duel dramatising one of the great driving forces throughout history: the spirit of competition. The same spirit that drives the technicians and watchmakers of TAG Heuer when, day after day, they face the challenge of surpassing their own achievements, of doing more to innovate and reinvent themselves. This is how today we shape the timepieces of the future.
25/06/2009 The Lamborghini Kitchen
Pedini, an Italian kitchen design company, has created the Lamborghini kitchen that is based on it’s Integra Hook Kitchen design layout. Lamborghini is a name a that is synonymous with luxury vehicles and that is what Pedini tried to create by elevating their design to a luxury level. It’s covered in Ostrich skin and the Lamborghini logo has been placed on the front. There are three color options available: black, cream and Lamborghini yellow. But luxury doesn’t come cheap though and this kitchen is no exception carrying a price tag of $103,000.
25/06/2009 BMW M10 living the dream
Here's a BMW that’s a dream for fans! Drawn by former GM Holden designer Idries Noah, it shows how the M10 could look if it makes production.
Setting its sights on Audi’s R8 and the Porsche 911, this interpretation of the extreme BMW draws its inspiration from the M10 supercar and the barrel of a wave. Noah said he wanted the design to be aggressive, sleek, agile and original. Despite looking like no BMW before, the twin-kidney grille ensures there is no doubt what breed this is.

Even serial womaniser Russell Brand, famed for his hair, humour and whimsical charm only charted at 94.
He also beat Piers Brosnan and Barack Obama. Yep, the denim-clad curly haired giant beat James Bond and the world’s most powerful man.
And Jezza wasn’t the only Top Gear host to make the list with James May coming in at 97. There was no room in the list for housewives’ favourite Richard Hammond which should make for interesting banter on this Sunday’s show.
Other men beaten by The Clarkson include teen idols:
• Transformers star Shia Labeouf
• One of the Jonas brothers
• Generic pretty boy from adolescent sopfest 90210
• Harry from McFly
Heat deputy editor Jeremy Mark said: “For the past three years Top Gear presenters have won Heat’s coveted Weird Crush poll, so it’s brilliant that our readers have now voted them into the ranks of the world’s more conventionally hot men.
"They sit alongside Brad Pitt, Johnny Depp and Robert Pattinson in our first ever 100 Sexiest Men on the Planet list, proving that there really is nothing weird at all about fancying Jeremy and James any more!”
The world’s sexiest man of 2009 is some bloke called Robert Pattinson. He was in Twilight or something.

23/06/2009 Mercedes-Benz Updates the G-Wagen, Kinda
The G Class, AKA the Gelandenwagen, will be celebrating its 30th birthday next year. Mercedes-Benz is planning to commemorate the occasion by updating the design of their off-roading monster. The G has never gone through any major changes during its long production run, and this is no exception to that rule. Have a jump.
The 30th anniversary updates start from the inside out: the front seats have been “ergonomically optimized” to be comfortable on the road and supporting when off the road. The passengers in the rear were also thought of — there is a new rear bench seat which has been designed to mimic the front bucket seats. All of this will be available in a range of color combinations, so be sure to head over to MB’s online configurator to check them all out (when the car is released of course).
The exterior was mostly left alone as it has been since Jimmy Carter was in office, but there will be two more colors available from the factory: Palladium Silver Metallic and Designo Platinum Magno. Drivetrain will also be pretty much the same. And by pretty much I mean exactly the same. Why mess with a good thing, right?
23/06/2009 Peugeot's Le Mans-winning 908 will be at Goodwood
Peugeot’s 2009 Le Mans-winning V12-diesel powered 908 Hdi FAP and its three-man driver team will attend the Goodwood Festival of Speed, which runs from the 3-5 July. The winning car covered 3,234.85 miles in 24 hours, achieving a 149mph fastest lap at the French circuit. Sister cars secured second and sixth places. It will be shown in the paddock and campaigned up the 1.16-mile Goodwood Hill.
Admission to the Goodwood Festival of Speed is by advance ticket only (Goodwood ticket Hotline +44 (0)1243 755055 or email booking@goodwood.co.uk).
23/06/2009 Ferrari releases mega gallery for new 599 HGTE supercar
Though the California convertible has grabbed almost all the attention paid to Ferrari in the media recently, the 599 GTB is still just as formidable and attractive as it was the day it hit the streets. For some extremists, however, even a car as superb as the 599 isn’t completely up to scratch.
Common criticisms of the 599 is that the car leans too heavily into corners when pushed to the limits, which in turn reduces turn in and leads to slower lap times. Ferrari engineers have analysed the problem and as they have done with the 575 and 612 before it, the 599 can now be ordered with a new track focused handling package. Called the Handling Grand Turismo Evoluzione (HGTE), the new upgrade was first revealed at March’s Geneva Motor Show and has now been finally tested by the guys at Auto Motor und Sport.
The HGTE package is designed to deliver even sportier, more dynamic driving. The technical modifications introduced include a modified set-up with stiffer springs and rear anti-roll bar as well as new calibration settings for the magnetorheological shock absorbers when the manettino is at its sportier settings. The ride height has been lowered, which in turn lowers the car’s centre of gravity. The package also includes specifically optimised tires featuring a compound that offers even better grip.
Furthermore, the car’s electronics have also evolved to ensure even more prompt response to driver commands. The F1 gearbox’s shifts are now even faster in high-performance settings, while a new engine software strategy has improved accelerator response.
The end result is a 0-100km/h time of just 3.7 seconds and a new lap time for Ferrari’s famed Fiorano test track of 1m 26.5s – only 1.5s slower than the lighter and stiffer F430 Scuderia street-legal race car.
From a styling point of view, the HGTE package includes some distinctively sporty exterior and interior features with carbon-fiber widely used throughout the bodywork. The 20in split-rim wheels are new, and are available with a special diamond-cut matte silver finish. The rear diffuser is finished in matte black to underscore the car’s new set-up and highlight the chromed tail pipes. The cabin is sportier, too, thanks to a mix of full-grain leather, black Alcantara and carbon-fiber trim. Embroidered in contrasting stitching on the headrest are a Prancing Horse and the words “Handling GTE”.

23/06/2009 2010 Bentley Continental GTC Speed
Few cars have packed on the pounds as invisibly as the Bentley Continental GT, and few look as good carrying the extra weight. Shearing the roof from the Conti coupe leaves a convertible that's less purely sexy than the hardtop, but the GTC Speed has a laid-back, vintage appeal embellished by sharp pleats in its fenders. Circular headlamps and LED taillamps lighten the shape a bit, but the interior's completely steeped in tradition. Bentley logos, chrome and wood trim span the dual-binnacle dash, which gets a Breitling timepiece - ironic German tonic for its very British interior. The Mulliner Driving Specification shows that even chrome air vent pulls, rich leather and wood, and delicate chrome detailing can be upstaged, what with the Mulliner's diamond-quilted leather seats, knurled shift knob, and a three-spoke steering wheel. In the GTC Speed, Bentley adds darkened metal trim, a rear spoiler, and wider exhaust pipes to the Mulliner spec.
Bentley expects drivers to choose its GTC Speed cars over, say, the Arnage - but Conti drivers aren't shunted into squalor for purchasing the entry-level Bentley. Up front, there's fantastic head and leg room. The size of two Smart Fortwos, the Conti GTC Speed saves ample space for the first two adults to call dibs. It's the other two wedged in back, who may complain - even with the endless headroom and quick-folding fabric roof of the convertible pulled back. The Conti GTC loses about ten inches of shoulder room from the front to the back seats, and knee room is consumed by taller front passengers. The front seats do have power assistance for backseat passengers to clamber in, and there’s a console with cupholders between the rear seats. They may grumble, but the ravishing quality of the leather and wood will quiet most passengers for at least short trips. The GTC's power top that folds in 25 seconds and has indulgent feel and great sound-damping ability; you'll want to exercise it as least as often as the
redline, if not more.

22/06/2009 Rolls Royce Ghost Configurator
Rolls Royce has launched a very swanky new website to herald the arrival of the new Ghost, which looks a lot like the 200EX concept car.
Rolls Royce has just launched a dedicated website for the 200EX/Ghost, which includes the all-important time thieving web configurator. In true Rolls Royce style, the site is piled full of juicy, rich media content, including videos of how the 200EX came to be, and a full interactive explore feature – which lets you look at the Ghost’s interior and exterior best bits.
The configurator is worth a look too. It lets you play with a few of the exterior colours and work out your favourite interior colour/trim combo. Sadly you can’t opt for a completely ridiculous 1970s rock n roll star setup - pink metallic exterior/giraffe skin interior isn’t available.
However, Rolls Royce assures us that the full compliment of bespoke upgrades will be available on the Ghost, providing your pockets are deep enough. Until the Ghost is unveiled in all its glory at the Frankfurt Motor Show, just click here to spec up your brand new Rolls Royce Ghost.

22/06/2009 Is Schumacher Top Gear's Stig?
Top Gear's Stig takes the Ferrari FXX on a Power Lap and is revealed as former F1 World Champion Michael Schumacher. Maybe.
The identity of The Stig was revealed last night on Top Gear in the form of F1 legend Michael Schumacher. For the first time The Stig lived up to the moniker of “tame” racing driver as Schumi’s combination of infomercial skills and German wit left the audience thoroughly indifferent.
Top Gear Power Lap protocol was broken as the track-only Ferrari FXX was sent round in record time by Schumacher before he was revealed as the driver. Herr Stig then spent his interview with Jeremy Clarkson endorsing sponsors and avoiding controversy.
As brand ambassador for Fiat and Bacardi, Schumacher earned his pay with plugs for the Abarth 500, Fiat Croma, and the merits of enjoying a certain rum on a responsible basis. Clarkson tried to coax Schumi towards being entertaining by asking who the worst drivers he’d competed against were, but the former champion pretended not to understand, which compared to the rest of the interview was truly hilarious.
The highlights were candid photos of Schumacher on the lash during his early racing years, bare-chested and dazed, next to an upturned fridge. Presumably he was enjoying Bacardi on a responsible basis, which is about as believable as Schumi choosing white overalls at Dunsfold over red ones at Fiorano.

21/06/2009 TAG Heuer Grand Carrera Calibre 36 RS Caliper
The TAG Heuer Grand Carrera Calibre 36 RS Caliper is quite an impressive watch. Featuring a world first, the Grand Carrera Calibre 36 RS is the only automatic chronograph capable of measuring and displaying 1/10ths of a second. A COSC-certified movement oscillates at a ultra high 36,000 vibrations per hour (vph), allowing the watch to measure 1/10th second intervals.
The Calibre 36 RS is housed in a 43 mm in diameter case which has a black titanium carbide coating. There are "black gold" accents all over the dial of the watch including the indexes, TAG Heuer logo and the hands. The two rotating systems indicating the chronograph minutes at 3 o'clock and the chronograph hours at 6 o'clock systems also use black gold. The watch also features a Linear seconds display a 9 o'clock.
Another innovative design element is the way the watch displays the information. TAG Heuer developed an exclusive Rotating scale that permits precise reading of 1/10th of a second, just watch the video, and you will see what I am talking about.
This watch is so exclusive that the design is featured on the dashboard of the limited edition Ken Okuyama designed K.O.7 sportscar, that was on display at the TAG booth this year at Baselworld. After seeing Ken's new design in person at Basel I was not surprised to read that he is the one who designed the famous Ferrari Enzo.
To add to the sporty automotive inspired design of the watch they added a caliper to the dial, which connects to the hour and minute counters at 3 and 6 o'clock. They even perforated the strap, to add to the sporty design.
The racing inspired "black gold" accented, ultra high precision 36,000 VPH COSC-certified 1/10th second chronograph, is by far one of the best looking TAG Heuer watches I've seen.
Available June 2009 - that's now!

18/06/2009 GTbyCitroen isn't just for show
Concept cars always look very impressive when seen on a show stand, but few of them are actually driveable. However, the GTbyCitroen is and will mark its UK debut in three weeks' time with a run at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.
The GTbyCitroen was unveiled at last October's Paris Motor Show. It was designed jointly by Citroen and Polyphony to appear in Gran Turismo 5, the latest edition of the driving simulation game series. The show car is a realisation of the digital machine.
The proportions of the concept vehicle are pretty outlandish, with an overall length of nearly five-metres and it's 1.09 metres high (or low, more accurately). Details such as the wraparound windscreen, movable aerofoil and large air intakes add to the GT's big visual impact.
On Sunday 5th July the GTbyCitroen will take to the Goodwood Hill as part of the Sunday Times Supercar Run. Although this is the Citroen's first appearance and run in the UK, it has been driven in Europe. Last weekend it completed the parade lap - along with 150 other cars - ahead of the Le Mans 24-hour race.
The Goodwood Festival of Speed runs from 3rd to 5th July.

Customers can also opt for a lowered ride height or the addition of a sport suspension system. The sport suspension is adjustable in both compression and rebound damping, allowing for a custom tailored ride for cruising, spirited driving, or competition.
To make sure the performance of a vehicle as special as the California is up to par in all aspects, edo competition also offers custom ECU recalibration. In addition to the recalibrated electronics edo competition can install a newly-developed high performance exhaust system featuring adjustable butterfly valves and custom designed high flow catalytic converters with a 200 cell per square inch metal core.
This well-matched combination enables the engine to develop its new-found power in an impressive manner. The treatment also provides a torque increase that is particularly noticeable in everyday driving. As a result, the performance figures of the edo California Spider are improved as well: It can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in a phenomenal 3.9 seconds and the top speed is an impressive 315 km/h (196 mph).
As with all edo competition models, we set no limit to our customers’ imaginations. Special interiors or lavish leather upholstery, individual requests are accommodated and executed with quality.

18/06/2009 Manchester United Stars Cars for Sale
The three ‘Rs’ have all played vital roles for Manchester United as the Old Trafford outfit have won the Premiership three times on the roll.
And the trio of Rio, Ron and Roo have also been well known to splash the cash on flash cars – after all they each earn more than £100,000 a week.
Rooney is the biggest player when it comes to cars having had the pleasure of at least 19 models worth a total of £1.4 million parked on the drive of his and Coleen’s mansion over the years.
His old Aston Martin Vanquish S cost £180,000 in 2006 and can be yours with just 6,000 miles on the clock for £92,975.
With a 6-litre V12 engine developing 520bhp, the Vanquish S will accelerate from 0-62mph in 4.6 seconds before hitting 200mph.
Ronaldo, who is currently appearing no end on the back and front pages of the tabloids, is also appearing in the motoring pages after his old Porsche 911 Convertible came on the market.
The Portuguese winger and soon-to-be world’s most expensive footballer sold his car to a dealer who has put the model on the market for £69,995.
Under the bonnet of the Porker is a 3.8-litre engine which accelerates the German supercar from 0-62mph in 5.4 seconds and on to a top speed of 177mph.
Rio Ferdinand’s old Bentley Continental GT is also on the market. Ferdinand was the first owner of the 2004 model which is now being sold by its third owner for £53,205.
Thanks to a 6-litre W12 engine boasting 560bhp, the Bentley will hit 62mph in 4.8 seconds and go onto a top speed of 190mph – not bad for a 2.5-ton car.
The Continental is a favourite among footballers, in particular Man United’s players with Old Trafford owners having included:
• Cristiano Ronaldo
• Wayne Rooney
• Edwin van der Sar
• Patrice Evra
• Ryan Giggs
• Carlos Tevez

17/06/2009 Jaeger-LeCoultre AMVOX2 Racing Chronographs
A limited series of AMVOX2 Racing chronographs was recently unveiled by Jaeger-LeCoultre. Two versions will be available, a black PVD titanium model with a black dial and a titanium model with a white dial (pictured above). Both models feature carbon fiber chronograph counters. A unique perforated waterproof leather strap was used for these exclusive sports watches.
The new Amvox 2 Racing Chronographs are powered by the JLC 751E caliber. The movement is housed in a 44 mm case that is 50 meters water-resistant. It beats at 28,800 vph, has 41 jewels, 280 parts and a 65 hour power reserve. Introduced several years ago, the Amvox watch collection features Jaeger-LeCoultre's proprietary vertical chronograph trigger system. It allows the wearer to control (start, stop and reset) functions by pressing the sapphire crystal. For start and stop functions, you must press the edge of the crystal at 12 o'clock. To reset the counters to zero, you must press the edge of the crystal at 6 o'clock. A locking device is used to prevent any accidental activation of the vertical trigger.
The black titanium PVD version is reference number Q192T400 and the titanium version is Q192T430. There are only 100 pieces of each model available worldwide.
17/06/2009 Nissan 370Z
The Nismo-tuned Nissan 370Z has gone on sale in America.
It’s an official addition to the Nissan range, rather than an aftermarket option, and is priced pretty competitively - 39,130 US dollars, which is the equivalent of just £24K. That’s cheaper than a regular, entry-level 370Z sets you back in the UK. It represents a rise of around £5,500 over the regular Zed car in the US.
That cash buys you a properly good looking thing. The bodywork is recognisably beefed-up, with much chunkier wheel arches, a redesigned front end, a rear diffuser (housing twin exhaust pipes) and a rather unsubtle rear wing. From some angles it has definite hints of Porsche 997 GT2 about it; never a bad thing in our eyes.
Power is up too, from 326 to 345bhp, with the engine mated to the six-speed manual gearbox with Nissan’s trick heel-and-toeing SynchroRev match control as standard. The suspension is tuned while there’s beefier brakes, which come housed in 19in RAYS alloys (wrapped in Yokohama rubber).
The interior is emblazoned with Nismo logos and red detailing and you get the obligatory numbered plaque to remind you how special your car is. For an extra few hundred dollars you can also get Nismo-badged carpet mats, a carpeted boot mat and some illuminated kick plates, too. Excellent.
Less excellent, though, is the fact that sales are US-only. Although by pestering your friendly local importer, there may be ways around that…

16/06/2009 Upcoming drop-top version of Audi's R8 Spyder
Just in time for summer, Audi's R8 is blowing its top! These sensational spy shots show the latest addition to its R8 range – the Spyder.
Caught testing at the Nurburgring circuit in Germany, it gets a neat electrically operated folding soft-top roof – just like the Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder.
A soft-top has been chosen as it weighs less than a folding hard top, which would blunt performance and raise the car’s centre of gravity.
One detail that's missing from the Spyder compared to the coupe version are its signature ‘sideblades’ – it's likely that Audi has dropped these to further distinguish the two cars.
Audi is expected to launch the V8 R8 Spyder at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September, with the V10 Spyder appearing six months later.

11/06/2009 Aston Martin Rapide
Aston Martin's all-new Rapide sport sedan sitting in a parking lot without a single trace of camouflage! From what we gather, the test car must be one of the final prototype models of the four-door Aston that is scheduled to be officially revealed to the public at the Frankfurt motorshow in mid-September. The undisguised prototype is finished in a menacing black color with a contrasting red interior.
Poised to take on any top-notch sport sedan including the most powerful variants of the Porsche Panamera, the Rapide will be offered with a 6.0-liter V12 engine that churns out 470bhp and 600Nm of torque. Power will be driven to the rear wheels through a six-speed ZF automatic transmission with Aston's Touchtronic control.
The Rapide that will be built by Magna Steyr in Graz, will begin arriving at Aston Martin showrooms around the world in early 2010. As for prices don't expect anything lower than $200k.

04/06/2009 Bugatti unleashes four-door Veyron
It's the Veyron for all the family! This is our best look yet at the stunning Bugatti Royale – a four-door four-seater that’s set to take the famous firm into a new market.
With the £900,000, 253mph Veyron 16.4 already crowned the world’s most expensive and fastest supercar, Bugatti is seeking to go a step further: it will celebrate its 100th anniversary by unveiling this hyper-saloon at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September.
Inspired by the legendary 1927 Type 41 Royale, the new model would be as expensive as its brother and be available in a very limited production run for the company’s most loyal customers. As you can see, the exterior echoes the Veyron’s, while inside the cabin will offer unparalleled luxury, with the finest leather, suede and metal trim in addition to seating for four people and a luggage compartment at the rear.
Bugatti won’t be embarking on the project alone, though. It’s rumoured that the firm will team up with fellow VW Group luxury manufacturer Bentley in developing a new front-engined limousine platform. As well as underpinning the Royale, the chassis would be used on the next Arnage. However, the new Bugatti will keep much of the technology seen on the Veyron, such as its four-wheel-drive set-up and 8.0-litre quad-turbo W16 engine, although this will be mounted at the front.
With the same 987bhp and 1,250Nm of torque, the Royale should cover 0-60mph in three seconds and hit a 250mph top speed, making it the fastest four-seater in the world. It will also feature the same seven-speed twin-clutch transmission – developed by UK firm Ricardo – along with that Haldex clutch-equipped all-wheel drive. There will be active aerodynamics, a Veyron-style hydraulic rear wing that rises at speed, huge carbon composite brake discs and adaptive dampers, too.
The current economic downturn means the Royale is still some way off. But with McLaren Automotive boss Ron Dennis predicting a return to growth in 2011, just in time for the launch of his company’s P11 supercar (see Issue 1,060), expect the four-door to go on sale in three years’ time.
In further celebration of its 100th birthday, Bugattiis also planning to launch a 1,350bhp ‘super’ Veyron later this year, along with additional special editions.
18/05/2009 Panerai Ferrari Scuderia
The latest in high-performance timepieces comes from famed Italian watch company Panerai with two new additions to its Ferrari Scuderia collection: the Ferrari Chronograph Red Dial and the Ferrari Chronograph Yellow Dial. Panerai is no stranger to the eminent Italian automaker; its record boasts the earlier release of the special Ferrari California Flyback Chronograph to commemorate the launch of the new Ferrari California convertible.
Both chronographs feature polished steel cases with brushed steel edges and crowns with rims, which evoke stimulating images of Ferrari dashboards, just like their tachometer scale built-in for calculating average speeds.
Wild not only by name, the striking Scuderia line watches carry the mighty Prancing Horse symbol and embrace your hand with black calfskin leather fitted with an inner layer of alligator skin. Their differentiating factor is their color: the signature Maranello House red and the energizing Modena yellow, the favorites in the Ferrari family.
Once highly regarded by Italian navy commandos for their superior quality, the Panerai watches carry with competence the luxurious, yet aggressive, status of the eminent automaker. Expected to sell around $8,000 to $10,000, this is finally a Ferrari you can own!
The watches from the Scuderia collection, like the brand new Chronograph Red Dial and Chronograph Yellow Dial, differ in both concept and look from those in the popular Granturismo series. Nevertheless, the same painstaking craftsmanship is put into the watches, just as Ferrari puts into its automobiles.

27/04/2009 Bugatti Veyron Centenaire
New special edition Veyrons influenced by classic Bugatti Type 35 grand prix car
A special edition car is normally the sign of a model at the end of its life, manufacturers clamouring to sell the last few before ushering in a replacement. Not so for Bugatti. It has announced another four unique Veyrons, following on from numerous other special editions and limited colour combinations.
The Veyron Centenaire comes in four different flavours, the full set being revealed at the Concorso d’Eleganza supercar and classic show at Italy’s Lake Como. Each is a one-off, too, making this the rarest of special Veyrons, although it wouldn’t be a surprise if all four fall into the hands of existing Veyron owners.
The less than subtle colour scheme is a mix of garish polished aluminium and one of four hues from Bugatti’s classic Type 35 grand prix car. The latter is perhaps the brand’s defining moment, and its grille and wheels have had subtle influences on the Veyron’s design.
As well as being matched to a particular Type 35, each Veyron Centenaire also represents a driver from Bugatti’s illustrious racing past (2000 wins in ten years). As such, the cars bear the racing colours of each driver’s country as well as having their signature stitched into the headrests.
If you want to be patriotic, pick the green car, which represents England and Sir Malcolm Campbell. You also have the choice of red (Achille Varzi and Italy), blue (Jean-Pierre Wimille and France) and white (Hermann zu Leiningen and Germany).
As you may have guessed from the name, the Veyron Centenaire is celebrating 100 years of Bugatti. There’s more partying to come, too, with the next event at California’s Concours at Pebble Beach on August 16. More special editions? You wouldn’t bet against it.

27/04/2009 Aston Martin One-77 wins award
The Aston Martin One-77 supercar has had its big public unveil in production form. Despite numerous concepts and display cars, dating back to the Paris motor show, this is the first time it has been seen in customer format. Just 77 will be made and Aston has confirmed that all of those have been bought, despite the car's £1.2million price tag.
Italy’s Lake Como was graced with the big unveil, the road-ready One-77 being displayed as part of the Concorso d’Eleganza car show with a fully hand-crafted interior and running powertrain, a Cosworth-developed 7.3-litre V12 pushing out around 730bhp.
And the reaction was positive, with the One-77 winning the event’s design award for Concept Cars and Prototypes. It grabbed over 30 per cent of the votes, fighting off seven other competitors including the Morgan Aero Supersports, Fisker Karma S, Rinspeed iChange, Zagato Perana Z One and Infiniti Essence – all big hitters from the recent motor show circuit.
It pleased Aston chief Dr Ulrich Bez, who said ‘the One-77 has proven itself as the most desirable automotive art form at its premiere today. We have achieved a new level of design and craftsmanship which has been clearly recognised by the public here in the homeland of design at Villa d’Este.’
Also picking up a prize was a Ferrari 250 GT Coupe Pininfarina (pictured in white). It won the award for best restoration. Ferrari Classiche completed its overhaul just a few days before the event, returning the car to its original condition that was seen at the 1956 Brussels Motor Show.
